In Southern Pittwater, nature surrounds us. Our waterways and bushland inspire us, and we give it respect. As a community, we keep our impact on the environment as small as possible. The vast majority of us who live offshore collect rainwater for all purposes and use septic tanks. We are also a community that recycles, reuses and repurposes most everything.
Despite this, every event has a carbon footprint. We are reducing WaterMarks’ footprint with 2 green initiatives.
- Australian GreenPower offsets our open studios’ energy emissions
A government accredited program, GreenPower puts money into the renewable energy sector. - Certified carbon credits offset ferry transport emissions
The Church Point Ferry Service transports WaterMarks visitors between Church Point, Scotland Island and Elvina Bay. Certified carbon credits offset all emissions from the ferry fuel usage. Like GreenPower, carbon credits support renewable energy projects globally.
Calculating WaterMarks’ footprint
Sustainability specialists and event sponsor, Pangolin Associates, calculated our emissions. To ensure proper process, the company also purchases and manages GreenPower and carbon credits on behalf of WaterMarks.
Our visitors and the environment
We welcome visitors to our area, and ask that you too respect the environment. Please take your waste with you, or leave it in bins. Be kind to our bushland and leave without a mark.
